Perfect Dinner In Antigua Guatemala
My brother visited us in Antigua so my husband and I to be the perfect hosts, we took him out for an exciting night out on the town. But I have a 5 year old boy who loves to run and climb. So I think you will be able to understand why we were expecting either a lot of whining, too much climbing on everything (my son is more of a monkey than human at times), some serious refusals to eat anything at all, and complaining that he is tired and wants to go home.
And it came as total surprise when our night turned out to be perfectly nice!
Since it was his first time around we decided this night had to be something he remembered the rest of his life so we took him to get a taste of traditional Guatemalan food. Well to be quite frank had been living in Guatemala for over 2 months and I still hadn’t tried some serious authentic Guatemalan cuisine. We had heard a lot of good things about a restaurant Antigua called La Cuevita de los Urquizu and we decided to give it a go.
We got there and noticed that you have to choose what dished you want to try at the entrance which was pretty cool. Every day there are 2 choices of meats, and then salads. Of course there are some drinks with some weird choices for the kind of food it is. Anyway we ended up getting a bottle of wine. We went completely nuts with food so naturally they just loved us.
We found out about how much they really loved us when they led us to the rooftop where we had the best seats in the house. We had the best view of the sunset from there. As if that wasn’t enough they even gave us two waiters who never got in our way while we were enjoying our food and having a good time. The setting also allowed my son to climb all over the place without bothering us or others. My brother love it too so I was more than happy.
