You can easily chalk up a massive bill in Hong Kong, there are still plenty of things to do that won’t have you deepening your pockets!

1. Feel the Adrenaline of a Horse Race

There’s an impressive atmosphere on a horse race night at the Happy Valley Race Course in Hong Kong Island (Near Causeway Bay MTR). The flood lights from the race course blind out the sky scrapers lingering in the background having a bursting effect on the arena.

At 10 HKD entrance and another 10 HKD for an opportunity to bid on a winning horse, you’ll have an entertaining evening in Hong Kong. You just might win some additional survival money for extended stay in Hong Kong!

2. Walk to the peak of Saan Deng (Victoria Peak)

A ride on a cable car to the top of Hong Kong Peak for breathtaking views over the complete bay is one of the city’s largest draws. A round trip on the cable car is available at the expense of 33 HKD.

For the more adventurous, it’s possible to hike it – Free Of Charge! Though it is steep at times, the trail is a breeze to follow and is well worth the exercise and spectacular sights of the city while getting elevation. The hike to the Peak should take below an hour. There are also ample other trekking opportunities in Hong Kong, concealed away around the concrete jungle itself.

3. View the Hong Kong Skyline Laser Exhibit

Cliche, but still there’s never been a single person who has visited Hong Kong as a traveller and didn’t stop for a moment to view the sky line. Overlooking the bay at Hong Kong’s sky line at night or day is undoubtedly a sight which will make anybody miss a few breaths in amazement.

The magical laser show starts at 8 pm every day.

4. Venture into the Chungking Mansions

When it comes to world culture, there are few places in the entire world which can be as interesting as the Chungking Mansions.

Picture the planet coming together in one building – all with business in their minds. You are able to just about sense transactions and deals floating from culture to culture in the air.

The bottom floor comes complete with everything from aromatic Bangladeshi curry diners to passe cellphone traders. The upper levels are filled with budget guest houses.

Right next to the Chungking Mansions is one other complex recognized for international business and budget stays, the Mirador Mansions.

5. Try eating Dim Sum (Yum Cha)

Eating Hong Kong’s most world renowned treat doesn’t usually come free of charge, but it undoubtedly would not have been the same to visit the city without at least a couple brunches worth of dim sum!

Dainty bamboo steamers filled with a variety of dumplings, petite plates of tasty looking assortments, and edible artistic creations are what make dim sum such a wholesome culinary experience.
